In-house environmental responsibility at AFD

Sustainable development is one of the group’s most important internal management priorities.  Social dialog, a mobility and assistance policy for staff members, training programmes, internal precedents, a charter of professional ethics are developed in the light of priorities of social and environmental responsibility.

In terms of environmental protection, AFD has chosen “clean energy” for the management of its infrastructure, from its Head Quarters to the agencies in its network.  AFD thus hopes to contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Practical guide for a green office

Everything we consume and the waste we produce in our office work closely tie us to our environment.

AFD is engaged in a social responsibility process and, in line with its mission and values, has published a guide entitled: " Practical guide for a green office " (French version only). This guide is intended to inform and responsibilize AFD staff and to be a toolkit for how to use resources at work in an eco-friendly manner. .

The simple and easy to apply advice and ”practices” should help us change our behaviour and respect the environment more. Our aim in giving this advice is to change habits in terms of the gestures we repeat throughout the day.

All individual actions matter. Every gesture is important. Let us try to improve our habits, share good ideas and best practices. All this put together on the scale of the AFD will contribute to reducing the impacts our activities have on the environment.

The advice and practices will gradually be completed by structural actions: institution of a standard for economical reprography, changes in informatics and printing tools, managerial incentives. The General Secretariat will regularly communicate on results achieved thanks to our group effort.
