Rémy Rioux, Chief Executive Officer of Agence Française de Développement (AFD) Group, presented on this 12 April 2018 the key figures for the public institution’s activity in 2017. With EUR 10.4bn of commitments, AFD is continuing its growth, with an 11% increase in its activities in a year and a 25% increase over the past two years.
On the sidelines of the State visit to France by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, a Memorandum of Cooperation has been signed on this Tuesday 10 April between AFD and its Saudi equivalent, the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD). It notably provides for enhanced cooperation and investments in projects in the Sahel region.
Arue, a commune in the northwest of the island of Tahiti, is continuing the renovation of its water distribution network and investing in resilience via large-scale roadwork. AFD will be supporting it on this path, via two new financing agreements.
In 2017, AFD launched an ambitious research project on water in Bolivia. It is being led with the Centre for Latin American Research and Documentation and looks at the linkage between water territories and “Commons’ in this country, where water has a particular importance and symbolic meaning.
