AFD's Intellectual Cooperation in China

CCICED
The China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED) is an organisation that brings together Chinese and foreign experts to advise the Chinese government on environmental policies. Within this framework, AFD signed an agreement to finance the creation of a working group focused on Energy and the Environment.
This working group published a report with recommandations to reduce energy consumption in Chinese cities.
A seminar was also hold in Paris on November 25th 2010 at College de France to introduce a French audience to CCICED's work and the task force main research results.

Asia Centre
AFD contributes to Asia Centre’s work, a think tank whose objective it is to carry out research in Asia, organise debates in France and overseas, in particular with the decision makers and Asia Pacific experts and to disseminate their findings through in house and outside publications.

Ifri
AFD supports the French Institute for International Relations (IFRI) who has the project to create a platform for exchange between Chinese and French researcher and entrepreneurs in order to foster mutual understanding and trust.

China-Africa relations
AFD with the China Institute of International Studies (CIIS) co-organised a research seminar on Africa and Development issues, a first step in a Sino-French dialogue on this subject, with an objective of exchanging views and experience on the Official Development Assistance in Africa.

Research on urban transport model for the city of Guiyang
AFD is carrying out, in cooperation with the World Bank, a study on urban transport needs in the city of Guiyang (Guizhou provincial capital), aimed at assisting the municipality in establishing an integrated urban transport plan taking into consideration environmental and energy aspects for the city’s sustainable development.

Research programme on the financial levels in energy refurbishment in the Hubei province
a research programme was launched in 2006 to capitalise on experience in the energy efficiency field and financial incentives, associating AFD, the Hubei Province, Hubei University and the International Energy Agency.

Seminar on energy management in Chengdu
in April 2006, AFD took part in a Sino- French seminar held in Chengdu to promote awareness in the area of energy efficiency.
