Meeting between the Environment Minister and Donors

April 2^nd 2009

A meeting between the Minister for the Coordination of Environmental Action (MICOA) and Partners involved in the sector took place in Maputo, the 2^nd of April 2009, within the framework of the Joint Review process held annually between the Government and the 19 donors of the general budget support (G19). The Annual Joint Review process is a unique moment for dialogue and discussions aiming to assess the Government and Partners' performances in the previous year (2008) and to identify main challenges for the forthcoming year (2009) and further.

This meeting closed a series of discussions held between MICOA, other line ministries, civil society, private sector and cooperation Partners to prepare the environment sector's performances' evaluation report for 2008.

It offered a great opportunity to discuss the main conclusions to be taken in consideration for the assessment of the sector, and to debate the main challenges for the future. As donor focal point for the environment sector, AFD Director in Mozambique, Bruno Leclerc, presented donor's vision for the sector, their main concerns, expectations and objectives.
