Combating air pollution in Cotonou

There is a pressing need to mitigate air pollution in Cotonou. AFD has encouraged the implementation of an innovative program to replace the highly-polluting two-stroke motorcycles with four-stroke motorcycles which discharge almost 85% less greenhouse gas and are much less polluting. <Find out more>

Peace canal to link the Red Sea and the Dead Sea

Mozambique: supporting Quirimbas National Park

Mauritania: Insurance to reduce pregnancy and childbirth-related risks

Risks relating to pregnancy and childbirth can be shared thanks to the obstetrical package which was set up in 2002. Five years on, assisted childbirths in Nouakchott have risen by 48% as a result of this package. Post-Crisis Projects

Pakistan: individual housing reconstruction in rural areas affected by the October 2005 earthquake

On 8 October 2005 a violent earthquake measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale struck India and Pakistan, mainly in Kashmir’s mountainous areas. AFD had been given its first mandate to operate in this type of post-crisis situation and wished to support the Pakistani authorities’ reconstruction efforts in rural disaster areas. <Find out more>
