In December 18th, 2008, AFD approved a € 1.25 M financing for a vocational training and professional integration project. The project has been submitted by the NGOs consortium CFSI/GRET/ESSOR in response to AFD's invitation to tender for projects in the area of vocational training and professional integration. PROPARCO, the Investment company of the AFD Group, has signed a 12,2 million euros financing convention with AKFED in Paris on 08th December 2008. AKFED is the Aga Khan foundation for economic development which owns the Polana hotel in Maputo. The project aims at the complete renovation and modernisation of the Polana hotel, while conserving the front of the building which makes it so unique in Maputo. More information
The Minister of Tourism of Mozambique (MITUR) has chaired a seminar on conservation areas in the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPSP) in Maputo on 3rd and 4th November 2008. Bruno Leclerc, Director of French Agency for Development (AFD) in Mozambique, contributed to the debates by presenting AFD strategy regarding conservation areas development and management. On the 31st of October, 2008, the Minister for the Coordination of Environmental Action (MICOA) chaired a meeting gathering the Ministry and the main international and bilateral organizations and embassies involved in the environment sector in Mozambique. As donor focal point for the environment sector (AFD), France actively participated in the organisation and coordination of the meeting. More information

On the 19th of June, 2008, Ernesto Gouveia Gove, Governor of the central Bank of
AFD Head of SS Africa department, Jacques Moineville and AFD Head of Communication and Foreign Relations, Henry de Cazotte, came to Mozambique from May 12th to 15th to participate in the African Development Bank 2008 Annual Meetings. This provided them an opportunity to visit the Maputo Water and Sanitation Project (MWSP). More information
