In December 18th, 2008, AFD approved a € 1.25 M financing for a vocational training and professional integration project. The project has been submitted by the NGOs consortium CFSI/GRET/ESSOR in response to AFD's invitation to tender for projects in the area of vocational training and professional integration. December 08th, 2008 - Proparco financing for the rehabilitation of the POLANA hotel in Maputo

PROPARCO, the Investment company of the AFD Group, has signed a 12,2 million euros financing convention with AKFED in Paris on 08th December 2008. AKFED is the Aga Khan foundation for economic development which owns the Polana hotel in Maputo. The project aims at the complete renovation and modernisation of the Polana hotel, while conserving the front of the building which makes it so unique in Maputo. November 27th, 2008 - Development project for National Reserve of Gilé and its surrounding area has been approved

The Steering Committee of the “Fonds Français pour l'Environnement Mondial” (French GEF) has approved on 27th November 2008 a 1 million euro project that aims at developing the Gilé National Reserve and its surrounding area. Being the unique protected area of Zambezia province, that reserve is one of the last wild areas in the region. It has an exceptional biodiversity which is more and more threatened by the increasing pressure on its natural resources. More information


November 12th-14th 2008 - CEFEB: Seminar on Investment and Finance for EDM executives

On request of Electricidade de Moçambique (EdM), the French Development Agency's training Center (CEFEB) organized, from November 12th to 14th, in Maputo, a training session on "Investment and Finance". More information
 

 


November 3rd-4th - Seminar on conservation areas in the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries

The Minister of Tourism of Mozambique (MITUR) has chaired a seminar on conservation areas in the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPSP) in Maputo on 3rd and 4th November 2008. Bruno Leclerc, Director of French Agency for Development (AFD) in Mozambique, contributed to the debates by presenting AFD strategy regarding conservation areas development and management. October 31st, 2008 - Meeting between the Ministry of the Environment and donors

On the 31st of October, 2008, the Minister for the Coordination of Environmental Action (MICOA) chaired a meeting gathering the Ministry and the main international and bilateral organizations and embassies involved in the environment sector in Mozambique. As donor focal point for the environment sector (AFD), France actively participated in the organisation and coordination of the meeting. September 11th, 2008: AFD Press Conference at the Franco-Mozambican Cultural Center

French Ambassador in Mozambique, Thierry Viteau, and AFD Director in Mozambique, Bruno Leclerc, held on September, 11th a Press Conference at the Franco-Mozambican Cultural Centre, to present AFD main activities for 2007, at global and national levels: strategies, financing tools, commitments, results/impacts. June 19th, 2008 - AFD signed a € 9M financing agreement with the Ministry of Health

On the 19th of June, 2008, Ernesto Gouveia Gove, Governor of the central Bank of Mozambique, and Bruno Leclerc, AFD Director in Maputo, signed a € 9M financing agreement to support the 2008-2010 health sector strategic plan. This grant will be directly allocated to the Ministry of Health budget via PROSAUDE, a sixteen donors’ basket funding mechanism. More information


May 14th, 2008 - Visit of the drinking water supply project in Maputo City

AFD Head of SS Africa department, Jacques Moineville and AFD Head of Communication and Foreign Relations, Henry de Cazotte, came to Mozambique from May 12th to 15th to participate in the African Development Bank 2008 Annual Meetings. This provided them an opportunity to visit the Maputo Water and Sanitation Project (MWSP). More information
