French in favour of development aid despite the crisis

News: French in favour of development aid despite the crisis  The fourth AFD-IFOP poll about the French and development aid reveals that 6 French people out of 10 think that France plays an important role in combating poverty in the world. 66% consider that France’s support to developing countries is justified despite the crisis. Although a majority of French people think that aid is effective, they say it could be made more so by supporting local partners and transferring expertise.

Un monde solidaire: Colle Sow Ardo, a Senegalese fashion designer I created my label in Dakar in 1983. I wanted to do something that no one had ever done before and make clothes using local fabric, create a collection and sell what Senegalese craftsmen know how to do best. Africa always comes up with ideas!
Meet Colle and other South development players in Un monde solidaire (an inclusive world) – short TV programs broadcast on France 2 and France 5 from 16 November to 27 December, with support from the French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and Agence Française de Développement.

Scaling up Jordan’s energy capacity

PROPARCO: Scaling up Jordan’s energy capacity PROPARCO is financing the construction of a 373 MW gas-fired combined cycle power plant to the south of Amman in Jordan. The project will help make a considerable and sustainable improvement to the country’s energy capacity by providing 17% of national production capacities by 2011.
