AFD signs the Sustainable Development Charter for Public Establishments and Enterprises
Agence Française de Développement’s contribution to the preparation of the Sustainable Development Charter for Public Establishments and Enterprises underpins its various commitments (SER and Transparency policy, Institutional and Ethical Charters) to hinge its policies upon national and European sustainable development strategies.
AFD, like the 50 public establishments involved in the research made by the Sustainable Development Club and by signing the Charter, has strengthened both its exemplary role and its role as an instigator and promoter of public service values where sustainable development is a key component in protecting and developing the environment and ensuring economic development and social progress.
- A social and environmental policy designed in line with International Conventions on sustainable development adhered to by the French government. It is made up of 10 components which focus both on AFD’s in-house functioning and the social and environmental quality of the projects it finances.
- A transparency policy based on accountability. It aims to increase access for all development financing stakeholders to information on AFD’s functioning, mission, operations and publications in order to foster dialogue and consultation with other development actors.
