European Networks
AFD is a member of several European networks in order to participate in debates that allow European construction to make headway in terms of development assistance. For example, we finance the Friends of Europe think tank, which organizes debates on topics situated between policy and operational issues, and publishes the magazine, Europe’s World. AFD, together with KfW, initiated the creation of the Practitioners’ Network with the aim of building a range of instruments for European development finance. This informal platform provides a forum for debate with other European actors of development on the more technical issues that we have in common. Finally, AFD is a member of Train4Dev, which aims to promote aid effectiveness for poverty reduction thanks to enhanced cooperation among donors in the field of skill building and training.

EDFI – Development finance institutions’ network
The EDFI network gathers 16 European Development Finance Institutions and provides a platform for dialogue and for the implementation of joint actions, particularly in the form of cofinancing for the private sector. It operates on the basis of a mutual recognition of operating methods. Procedures and working methods that lead to the drafting of a report presented by one of the members are not called into question by the other members. Common standards have, in particular, been defined for the assessment of environmental and social aspects, as well as for the fight against money laundering.
