Forums-debates
AFD and the French Observatory for Social Dialogue (ODIS) lead a series of meetings-debates on development assistance. These meetings are based on topical issues developed in the book « idées reçues et tabous du développement » (Preconceived ideas and taboos on development). They aim to launch reflection and allow opinion leaders to give their views on the challenges of aid. See opposite.
IFOP - AFD Poll
The 2009 IFOP/AFD poll highlights that the French are extremely keen to have more information on official development assistance. ODA remains a relatively unclear sector for one-third of the French: 21% say they see no clear results from aid and 12% know nothing about it.
Two-thirds of French people would like to know more about official development assistance. They would mainly like to be informed about projects financed by France (50%), as well as how they are progressing and their outcomes (61%) and about the assisted countries (49%). Half of the French would also like to be informed about the supervision methods that are used (48%).
