Private equity

AFD, through its subsidiary, Proparco, sometimes support small and medium-sized businesses in developing countries by investing its own capital and taking equity stakes in a business.  Proparco’s specialized capital investment team identifies opportunities and manages risks in such a way as to encourage other investors to invest, as well. 

In this way, AFD not only helps to make up for a dearth of private equity financing in certain countries, but also encourages growth of private equity financing by leading the way.
