In April 2006, AFD and the Ministry of International Cooperation signed an Framework Agreement, approved by Presidential Decree and ratified by the Parliament; the agreement entered into force in February 2007. The AFD loan agreement for the Improved Water Supply and Wastewater Services Program in the Nile Delta has been signed

The Financing agreement for a concessional loan of 40 million euros from the French Development Agency was signed on April 29th by HE Jean Felix-Paganon, Ambassador of France in Egypt and Mr. Jean-Hubert Moulignat, Director of the AFD office in Cairo, with the Central Bank of Egypt. The loan will finance the Improved Water and Wastewater Services Program (IWSP) in the Nile Delta i.e. in the governorates of Damietta, Sharqeyah, Gharbeya and Beheira. The project aims to improve water services and sanitation to almost 16 million people. AFD cofinances the program with European development institutions: European Union (with the Neighbourhood Investment Facility), the German KfW and the European Investment Bank (EIB), for a total of 295 million euros. Water, Waste and Sustainable Development international conference in Alexandira
Senghor University in Alexandria (Egypt), the Ecole des Mines de St Etienne (France) and the Innovation and Technology Association of Sfax (Tunisia) organized with the financial support of AFD an international conference on " Water, Waste and Sustainable Development "(E3D), under the patronage of His Excellency Mr. Hany Helal, Egyptian Minister of Higher Education and Research, from March 28 to March 31, 2010. >> Read more
Signing of two AFD loan agreements: Extension of the Gabal El Asfar Wastewater Treatment Plant and Phase 2 of Cairo Metro line 3.
Two new financing agreements of the French Development Agency, for a total amount of €94 million, were signed on Sunday January 24, 2010, during the visit in Egypt of the French Minister of Industry, Mr Christian Estrosi. This includes the financing of the Gabal El Asfar Wastewater Treatment Plant extension, and of the construction of Phase 2 of Cairo Metro line 3. The agreements were signed on behalf of the Government of Egypt by H.E. Ms Fayza Aboul Naga, Minister of International Cooperation. >> Read more
