The AFD blog, a different way of communicating
AFD launched its on blog dedicated to its activities back in September. The blog provides a different way of promoting AFD’s expertise by asking experts to give their opinions on current topics and facilitating exchanges between the different actors interested in North-South issues.
Why not join in the debate? Please do not hesitate to react to the posts on the blog by posting your own comments.
“Solidaires du monde” (Citizens for Global Solidarity), an original and successful initiative
Internet is the ideal medium for promoting development: it is reactive, participative and allows anyone with a project to let others know about it and anyone who is interested in the project to join in the debate. AFD wanted to launch a forum, independent of its activity, where anyone could freely find or share information, give their opinion and debate development aid projects.
The “Solidaires du monde” blogs aim to give a voice to solidarity actions from all over the world. They are much more than a digital showcase for actions, projects, and often standalone research: by blogging on the platform you can open up content to comments from Internet users. They can consequently help change the way people see things and sometimes even lead to meetings.
Over 800 blogs have been set up on the platform since it was launched at the end of 2008. “Solidaires du monde” has some 30,000 single hits every month and over 200,000 Internet users – including almost a quarter from African countries – have visited the platform and its blogs.
An AFD blog, who for and why?
Blogs are modern and easy-to-use communication tools and can:
- promote AFD’s expertise in different sectors and give the floor to our experts,
- promote events, projects and disseminate publications,
- create live interaction between the different actors interested in North-South issues,
- continue the debate using a collaborative tool,
- gain Internet-user loyalty by regularly publishing new content based on testimonies.
