Roundtable discussion AFD/WWF : One crisis can hide another one ! The ecological credit crisis

Worldwide Fund for Nature (WWF-France) and the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) are pleased to invite you to the roundtable discussion which will be held on Wednesday, 29 Octobre 2008, 9:00-11:00 am at AFD’s headquarters in Paris (salle Jaques Alliot, 5 rue Roland Barthes, 75598 Cedex 12).

The WWF’s Living Planet Report 2008 provides a perspective on resource management and shows that the world is heading for an ecological credit crunch as human demands on the world’s natural resources reaches nearly a third more than earth can sustain. Thus, most of us are propping up our current lifestyles, and our economic growth, by drawing (and increasing overdrawing) upon the ecological capital of other parts of the world.

Bernard Cressens, Programme Director at WWF-France, will present recent trends reported in the latest edition of the Living Planet report 2008, with special focus on the ecological footprint of France. Furthermore, the findings will be discussed with participants and Denis Loyer, Vice Director for Operations at l’AFD.
