Sophie CHAUVIN

  • Sophie Chauvin holds a PhD in Economics from the

    University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne . She was previously responsible for doing research on the Southern African region at the French Ministry of Cooperation and spent several months as a visiting researcher at NEPRU (Namibian Economic Policy Research Unit) in Namibia during the preparation of her thesis. She began her professional career in 1997 at the OECD Development Centre under a project on “Growth and Conflict in Africa ”. From the end of 1998 to the end of 2004, she was an economist at CEPII where her research work focused on various macroeconomic issues relating to emerging countries: regional trade integration (Southern Africa), growth ( Southeast Asia , India ) and exchange rate regimes ( Argentina ). She contributed to CEPII’s activities via her publications and by organising and participating in conferences and seminars. In 2005, she joined the Emerging Countries Economic Analysis Unit at the French Treasury and Economic Policy Directorate General, where she was in charge of monitoring macroeconomic policies in Latin American countries, as well as their relations with International Financial Institutions (IMF, WB, IDB). She joined the Franc Zone and Development Financing Studies Division at the Banque de France in August 2008, where she contributed to drafting Franc Zone annual reports and participated in seminars on emerging countries organised within the system of European Central Banks.

    Sophie joined AFD’s Macroeconomic Analysis and Country Risk Unit in February 2011.
