Investing in Development

An increasing number of companies are innovating and building new partnerships in developing countries. They are thus making an important contribution to achieving the MDGs. Social Responsibility is a core issue which they factor into their own development.

Support for local socio-economic development, transformations in business models, support for social entrepreneurs, creation of new financial products…, companies are mobilizing in both the North and South within a new partnership environment, in order to work for more equitable and sustainable development. This new framework deserved to be the focus of a major event with a European and international dimension. The aim was to organize a mutual exchange between traditional actors of development, companies and civil society.
AFD and IMS-Entreprendre pour la Cité consequently organized the symposium “Investing in Development” on 9th and 10th December 2008. The event focused on business innovations in this field and looked at what the most promising partnerships could be in order to scale up the movement.
