L’Indonésie et le Groupe AFD souhaitent renforcer leur partenariat en faveur du développement durable
Bilateral consultations between the Government of Indonesia and Agence Française de Développement (AFD) Group were held on April 24, 2025, in Jakarta. Chaired by Indonesia's Ministry of National Development Planning (BAPPENAS), this meeting brought together 100 participants with the aim of strengthening the strategic partnership between Indonesia and AFD Group in support of sustainable development.

AFD is supporting a project that identifies and protects such products with the use of Geographical Indications – labels that confirm the authenticity of location-based products. This helps monitor and improve quality, boost sales and improve producers' incomes.

Vietnam: A New kind of Workshop to Contribute to Climate Resilient Architecture

It involved 50 students from Hanoi Architecture University’s French-speaking departments in the framework of a new partnership between AFD and the university. The outcomes were presented on April 18 at the French Institute in Hanoi.

Cambodia’s Largest Water Treatment Plant Now 60% complete

Construction works on Cambodia's largest water treatment plant are now 60% completed, announced the Phnom Penh Water Supply Authority during a field visit with officials from the ministries of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, and of Economy and Finance, as well as representatives of AFD, the European Investment Bank and the EU. The massive infrastructural undertaking is set to markedly expand access to clean water, as Bakheng Water Production Facilities will increase water production capacity in Phnom Penh by 65%.

AFD Backs a Reinforced Power Grid in Southern Vietnam

Hervé Conan, Director of AFD's office in Vietnam and Nguyen Xuan Nam, Vice-President of Vietnam Electricity (EVN), signed an agreement for an €80 million loan aiming at strengthening the power grid in the South of Vietnam, thus helping expand access to electricity and boost the integration of newly installed capacities of renewable energy.

Cambodia: A New Wild Honey Label to Stimulate Rural Development

Wild honey has been cultivated in Cambodia for centuries, but it’s only recently that a new label aiming to maximize its commercial success and facilitate rural development has been launched. AFD has been supporting the development of Geographical Indications – labels that confirm the authenticity of location-based products – in Southeast Asia since 2007, the latest being that of "Mondulkiri Wild Honey" in Cambodia.

AFD Reinforces Support for Low-carbon Transition in Indonesia and Southeast Asia

With AFD Group’s CEO Rémy Rioux’s visit to Jakarta on 15 January, AFD has renewed its commitment to energy transition, sustainable ocean management, and sustainable finance in Indonesia, as well as to ASEAN. Two agreements were signed with PT SMI and PLN, and AFD’s Director General reaffirmed AFD’s commitment in the country to several ministers of the Indonesian government during bilateral meetings.

Youth Mobilized against Gender Violence in Vietnam

The French association, Batik International, has launched the Hy Vong (“Hope”) project in Vietnam, in collaboration with several local partners, to combat violence against women. Its aim is to protect victims, and prevent violence. The objective is also to provide care and raise awareness among Vietnamese people, in particular, by training students in gender and vulnerability issues.
