Overview

Christophe Barat works as a country-risk economist at AFD's Research Department and is interested in public finance and debt management.

Christophe Barat trained in development economics at the CERDI Research Center (University of Auvergne).

He joined AFD in 1999 as an economist in the Macroeconomics and Studies Division. Christophe Barat then alternated between positions in operations (in the geographical department: West Africa; in agencies: Kenya, Burkina Faso and Tanzania; in the technical division: public enterprises) and research (as a country risk economist). He has also worked for Expertise France, as head of the ‘Transparency, Public Management and Accountability’ Unit in the Governance Department.

He joined AFD's Research Department in September 2024 as a member of the team in charge of country-risk analysis. Christophe Barat is interested in public finance and debt management.
