Overview

Djedjiga Kachenoura reflects upon the integration of sustainability into financial systems, exploring both the theoretical dimensions and the regulatory frameworks that structure it.

Djedjiga Kachenoura joined AFD in 2018, where she combines theoretical research with practical action. She leads public policy dialogues on ecological transitions in strategic countries such as Indonesia, Colombia, and Ghana, while also collaborating with various partners on research into integrating sustainability into financial systems. Her diverse background in finance, spanning both development and market finance, provides her with a deep understanding of the roles and approaches of the different stakeholders.

Before joining AFD, Djedjiga Kachenoura began her career in asset management—initially in traditional asset management and later in alternative investments (HSBC, Allianz)—before transitioning to banking and development economics. At the African Development Bank, she managed the financing of infrastructure projects, including energy-related initiatives.

With nearly 20 years of experience in finance, Djedjiga Kachenoura takes a critical look at contemporary paradigms and tools of sustainable finance, such as carbon markets, alignment methodologies, and climate risk management. Her analysis is framed through the lens of double materiality and socio-environmental accounting.
