Overview

Laura Marie is a macroeconomist in the team responsible for assessing country risks and sovereign risks in countries in which AFD operates.

A graduate of Sciences Po Bordeaux and Paris-Dauphine (Master 211), Laura Marie joined AFD's country risk team in 2020, before moving to AFD's Western Balkans agency based in Belgrade until 2023 as a project officer. She has been part of the country risk team again since 2023.

As a country risk economist, she contributes through her publications to shedding light on the economic trajectories of the countries in which AFD operates. These analyses are based on close monitoring over a long period and are rooted in a detailed knowledge of local contexts. Thanks to the two years she spent in the Western Balkans, she has developed a detailed knowledge of the countries in the European neighbourhood. At AFD, Laura Marie is also contributing to roll out methods for analysing biodiversity-related risks.
