
Nicolas Guichard
Overview
Nicolas Guichard has been appointed Head of the Energy Division in September 2021. His mission is to coordinate AFD's action in favor of the energy transition in developing and emerging countries. AFD's activities in this sector concern access to electricity, energy efficiency, the financing of electricity network infrastructure and renewable energy production, as well as public policy dialogue and the strengthening of local electricity operators.
An engineer and graduate of Polytechnique and AgroParitech, Nicolas Guichard has been working for some twenty years in the field of energy transition in developing countries, specializing in the theme of access to electricity, and has worked more particularly on the African continent.
Before joining AFD in 2013, Nicolas Guichard was head of activities at Fondation Energies pour le Monde, a French NGO running off-grid access projects in West Africa and Madagascar.
