Overview

Linda Zanfini, a development economist, is responsible for research on education, training and employment in AFD’s countries of operation.

She leads a research program on the themes of education, training, vocational integration and employment. One of the aims of this program is to feed into the public policy dialogues AFD conducts on these subjects with its partner countries.

Linda Zanfini recently joined AFD’s Research Department. Before that, she worked for its Strategy Department where she was responsible for Corporate Social Responsibility

She holds a PhD in Development Economics from the University of Paris Ouest-Nanterre La Défense, and completed a thesis on trade liberalization and labor structure in the Southwest Indian Ocean islands. In it, she studied structural changes linked to trade liberalization and their impact on productive systems and the integration of these systems into global value chains in Madagascar and Mauritius. She also examined the impact that trade liberalization has on the labor market and labor mobility. 

After working as an evaluator of cooperation policies, she joined the Directorate for Globalization at France’s Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE), then AFD’s Strategy Department in 2016. She also lectured at the University of Paris-Sud. Since 2019, she has been working full-time on the AFD’s Education, Training and Youth Integration research program.
