Tanesco Solar Power Project and Grid Upgrade
AFD supports the securing of Tanzania’s electricity supply by supporting the construction of the country’s first solar photovoltaic power plant connected to the grid. This support will help prepare Tanesco for the introduction of intermittent energy on its network while modernizing it.
Supporting REA’s national rural electrification program
This AFD-financed project provides access to electricity and strengthens the grid, with the aim of connecting 95,000 rural households to the power grid and installing 3MW of renewable solar capacity in the isolated thermal centers operated by Tanesco.
Improving national power transmission infrastructure
