In Mozambique, AFD and the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) are banking on education. The country inherited a deteriorated education system because of the civil war. In 1992, one child in two was not going to school and only 3% of youth could reach secondary school. In Mozambique, AKDN allows children and adolescents to benefit from quality education. An academy recently opened in January 2018. Here, young people can study comfortably: brand-new sport playgrounds, a colorful library, a laboratory, gardens. The AKDN academy provides everything these children need to fulfil their professional dreams. Up to now, 81 students are studying in thist school: half of them come from disadvantaged background. The academy expects to receive up to 750 pupils.
