Sarah MARNIESSE

Sarah Marniesse graduated from the École Nationale de la Statistique et de l'Administration Economique (ENSAE) with a PhD in Development Economics. She joined AFD in 1999, after postdoctoral training at Michigan State University. In the Research department, she worked on the agenda of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), poverty, and the approach to Global Public Goods (GPGs). She subsequently managed public health and urban development projects in the Operations department.

In 2012, she was appointed as an advisor at the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, then as Deputy Director at the Sub-Directorate for Development Policies. In 2014, she joined the office of Annick Girardin, Secretary of State for Development and Francophonie, where she supervised aid operators and issues concerning development innovation. In 2016, she was appointed Director of the Mobilization of Research and Innovation department at the French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD) and worked on the contribution of research to society. 

She returned to AFD in 2018 as Head of the AFD Group Campus. Her team is working on redesigning training and developing innovative formats: online educational resources, series of videos and podcasts, MOOC. d.
