No sustainable development without basic education

Learning basic skills such as literacy, numeracy, communication and critical thinking: this, now more than ever, is a basic prerequisite for our societies to achieve their full potential. Quality education for all – at a minimum up to the end of the secondary level – is essential for is essential for people to realize their full potential. This is why it’s the pillar of all the Sustainable Development Goals. Yet, if no action is taken, in 2030, some 300 million children, mainly in Africa, will still not have access to a complete basic education, meaning the primary and lower secondary level.
