AFD Group has begun to develop a number of incentive loans, where pricing is indexed to the progress made by borrowers in terms of their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices. This not only allows AFD to continue to fund a large number of projects; it provides additional incentives to make sure development projects are fully sustainable.

Nature-Based Solutions: A Global Standard

Nature-based Solutions may have been proven effective in the fight against climate change, but they remain underused. One reason is there is no normative framework to harmonize practices and provide investors with a reassuring assessment mechanism. A solution is in store: the International Union for Conservation of Nature launched last month, with the support of AFD, a new Global Standard for Nature-based Solutions.

AFD Returns to Rwanda to Join in the Fight Against Covid-19

In the throes of Covid-19 crisis one month ago, France and Rwanda signed two funding agreements. The first will help the East African country in its fight against the pandemic. The second will support the drive to provide vocational training for young people. AFD's visit at the end of June was its first to the country in nearly 30 years.
