Energy efficiency of buildings - Key projects supported by PEEB

Published on

In the face of the climate emergency, the building sector plays a central role in the energy transition. Responsible for nearly 40% of global energy-related CO₂ emissions and 36% of final energy consumption, it represents both a major challenge and a tremendous opportunity for action. Launched in 2016 by France and Germany, the Partnership for Energy Efficiency in Buildings (PEEB) embodies this ambition through a dozen flagship projects carried out across all regions of the world. These initiatives already help to avoid several hundred thousand tons of CO₂ equivalent while improving the comfort and resilience of buildings. As a longstanding player in the energy transition, AFD is fully committed to this partnership to support countries in developing sustainable, context-specific solutions.
