Energy Transition - Activity report 2024

Supporting the energy transition in developing and emerging countries is key to achieving climate targets. It is also a real opportunity for development, aligned with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. For this transition to be successful, it must be fair and take account of each country’s economic and social contexts.
To address this challenge, AFD, Proparco and Expertise France mobilize their full range of financial and technical tools to support ambitious and country-specific energy trajectories. This ambition has led to tangible outcomes, with more than 360,000 people gaining access to electricity in 2024, illustrating how our projects directly improve people’s daily lives.

In 2024, AFD Group committed €2.5 billion to accelerate renewable energy production, upgrade grids and improve energy efficiency, including through a buildings program.
