Handbook on Inequality Measurement for Country Studies

Writing a country level study on inequality can be an intimidating task for researchers and statisticians. How does one begin to conceptualize such a study? What needs to be included? What sorts of analyses are required, and how does one go about generating the required results? This Handbook is written primarily as a reference document to guide researchers and statisticians who are about to embark on writing a research report that summarizes inequality within a given country-level context.

An updated version integrating key metrics of climate change's impact on inequality is available here.

This Handbook was developed by the African Centre of Excellence for Inequality Research (ACEIR) with support from the EU-AFD Facility on Inequalities, as part of a research project aiming to advance the analysis of African inequality and the policy discussion on strategies to overcome inequality in Africa.
