This webinar explores the characteristics and labour conditions experienced in some digital labour platforms in Argentina.
It will draw upon four research papers made by a partnership between the Research Department at AFD and the Área de Economía of the Instituto de Ciencias at Universidad Nacional General Sarmiento (UNGS) about platform workers in the Buenos Aires
Metropolitan Area. It will discuss the extent to which platforms’ characteristics influence the incorporation, job retention and the performance of women and men into jobs like delivery workers, hail-riding drivers, domestic workers and home repair providers.
The discussions will be complemented by an extract of selected findings from the ILO World Employment and Social Outlook 2021 report on “The role of digital labour platforms in transforming the world of work”.
In the Q&A session, panelists are invited to discuss on the challenges and opportunities that are arising from digital platforms to helping workers in Argentina and beyond to have better work conditions.
