The Social & Inclusive Business Camp is an acceleration program intended for organizations with a social and environmental impact to prepare their development strategy. Each year, it offers support to 45 English- and French-speaking African entrepreneurs. The program includes an e-learning phase and a boot camp to network and create financing opportunities.
AFD Group Campus is taking the lead in the coordination of this program, and using innovative techniques, will:
- Support transitions and promote new economic models
- Prioritize women and explore the subject of gender & entrepreneurship
- Be rooted in Africa, to mobilize more African stakeholders and organize the highlights of the program in Africa
- Strengthen innovative and open source teaching methods and engage agents in a group format
Among the organizations selected in 2023, “Petit Poucet” in Benin, welcomes children with specific needs to its inclusive nursery and primary school. “Some 47,000 children have disabilities in Benin and less than 2% of them are included in the education system,” says Claire Hazoumé, who co-directs the school.
“We are at SIBC because we want to extend services to these children beyond our nursery and primary school, to build an inclusive college and help these children advance towards professionalization and a career.”
SIBC in figures:
- 300 entrepreneurs supported, 50% of whom are women
