PhD student at the Center for Economics of Sorbonne Paris Nord University, Jan Krewer studies greening strategies based on the commons in value chains, particularly in the semiconductor sector.
Jan Krewer’s research focuses on forms of collective management of technologies and their potential for strong sustainability. He is pursuing this work as part of a CIFRE PhD(Industrial Agreements for Training through Research), under the supervision of Professor Isabelle Liotard at the Center for Economics of Sorbonne Paris Nord University and Stéphanie Leyronas in the Economic Diagnostics and Public Policy Department at AFD.
His research particularly examines greening strategies based on the commons in global value chains, especially in the semiconductor sector, at the intersection of political economy, technological governance, and ecological transitions.
Jan Krewer holds a master’s degree in International Relations from Sciences Po Paris. As a rapporteur and later Deputy Secretary General at the French Digital Council (Conseil national du numérique), he contributed to the Council’s work on the Law for a Digital Republic.
He has lived in Senegal and Rwanda, where he joined the Smart Africa Alliance as a strategic advisor, working on data governance and digital identity federation.
As an independent consultant, he has worked with AFD, GIZ, the Mozilla Foundation, KfW, and the Jacques Delors Institute. More recently, he was a senior policy analyst at the think tank Open Future,where he contributed to the development of a European agenda for digital commons.
