Véronique Vouland-Aneini was appointed acting Executive Director of the Geographic Department in November 2025. This department is responsible for overseeing project management, steering the business plan, and coordinating the field office network. It also ensures an in-depth understanding of our clients, the incorporation of local contexts into projects, and their alignment with France’s geopolitical and strategic interests.
 

Véronique Vouland-Aneini is a diplomat seconded to AFD, having joined the Group as Deputy Director for Geographies in 2022. An expert in African and Middle Eastern affairs, she served as French Ambassador to Jordan from 2019 to 2022 and to Madagascar from 2015 to 2019.
In both of these roles, she worked closely with AFD’s field office teams. She was also involved in oversight of AFD as Deputy Director of the Africa and Indian Ocean Division of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE) and served on its Board of Directors. She has previously represented France in Libya and Italy, as well as working for the Strategic Affairs Directorate of the MEAE, and for the Directorate of the United Nations.
