Ukraine: Rebuilding Cities and Supporting People

Faced with the destruction caused by the war, Ukrainian cities must rebuild essential services to ensure water supply, mobility and access to healthcare.
To support these urgent needs, AFD Group opened its office in Kyiv in 2024 and launched cooperation with several municipalities. In Kryvyi Rih, AFD works with Solidarités International and UNICEF to rehabilitate water and sanitation networks damaged by attacks. In Lviv, the Group helps improve public transport around the Unbroken medical centre, a key facility for displaced people and wounded soldiers. In the Odesa region, AFD and Expertise France implement the REHAB project to reinforce medical infrastructure and mental health services. These actions illustrate AFD Group’s long-term commitment to supporting Ukraine’s reconstruction and European integration.
