Although 2022 was marked by conflict and international crises, AFD Group had a record year in terms of financing development initiatives around the world. For its first year in existence, the new and expanded AFD Group – with Proparco, its subsidiary dedicated to the private sector and Expertise France, an interministerial agency for international technical cooperation, which joined the Group in January 2022 – signed more than 1,100 new projects worth a total of €12.3 billion.
Sixty-two percent of these projects contribute to gender equality and 65% to the the fight against climate change. AFD Group's activities are also aligned with the Paris Agreement, as highlighted in a 2022 independent assessment, which cited the Group’s outstanding performance on a range of criteria related to climate finance, mitigation and adaptation.
With nearly 3,600 employees, AFD Group is now active in more than 150 countries and 11 Overseas Departments and Territories.
