Since 2018, the objective of the Paris Peace Forum has been to provide a space for responding to the challenge of rebuilding better – in other words, for reducing divides and closing the gaps that threaten reconstruction:
- closing the action gap on health and economic recovery;
- closing the ambition gap for the global commons;
- closing the North-South gap;
- closing the inclusion gap.

From 10 to 11 November 2023, the 6th edition will focus on finding common ground on the governance of common spaces and global public goods in areas such as climate change, outer space and critical minerals.

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the crucial importance of science and dialogue between scientists and policy makers to provide an effective response to the crisis. If this dialogue has been decisive, it could be extended beyond periods of crisis to inform political decision-making and improve our collective preparedness for pandemics. This panel will highlight the critical role of science in promoting solutions to inform pandemic prevention strategies, while examining the challenges countries face in integrating these solutions at the policy level as well as at the multilateral level.

SOUTH-NORTH DIALOGUE FOR ACHIEVING SDG 2 AND 13 IN AFRICA: FOR AN AGRICULTURAL REVOLUTION FOR SUSTAINABLE FOOD SECURITY
The COVID-19 outbreak and the war in Ukraine have exacerbated structural trends: food insecurity will increase due to an increase in demographics and lower crop yields due to climate change. The challenge of the century will be to produce more while decarbonizing. Faced with this situation, Africa has immense agricultural potential. It can feed its population through a model adapted to climate change. This round table, in line with the Summit for a New Global Financial Pact, will try to show that it is possible to reconcile in Africa the agendas of fight against global warming and protection of biodiversity on the one hand, and agricultural development to achieve each other’s food security.

Supporting the Private Sector in Fragile Contexts
Expertise France and Proparco, as part of AFD Group, will hold a joint round table focusing on supporting the private sector in fragile contexts. This event is being organized on behalf of all the European organizations working in development cooperation and finance, through three networks: Practitioners’ Network, European Development Finance Institutions (EDFI) and Joint European Financiers for International Cooperation (JEFIC).
The round table will highlight how the actions led by Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), such as Proparco, and by Implementing Agencies (IAs), such as Expertise France, complement each other in supporting the private sector in fragile contexts. Indeed, DFIs and IAs address a wide range of challenges and must cope with national contexts and coordinate efforts with multiple stakeholders.

PREPARING FOR THE “NUTRITION FOR GROWTH” SUMMIT IN FRANCE: TACKLING THE ROOT CAUSES OF FOOD INSECURITY
After its third edition in Tokyo, the fourth edition of the "nutrition for growth" summit, to be held soon in France, must address global nutritional insecurity. To address the root causes of this insecurity, it is essential to renew political commitment and policies that prioritize peace, access to health, education and climate-sensitive food systems. To ensure the success of the summit, civil society in the countries most concerned and human rights must be placed at the centre of the debates. The round table aims to take stock of the current state of global nutrition, call for stronger political commitment and foster inclusive dialogue on nutrition, giving space to civil society.

The Paris Dialogue in action: A roadmap to sustainable sciences and finance
At the Summit for a New Global Financial Pact, the leaders of Paris-based international organizations and institutions from the world of science and finance launched the “Paris Dialogue” platform. Its goal is to join forces to make Paris a laboratory for sustainable development solutions and a global magnet for new partners committed to the climate and the SDG agenda.
This edition of the Paris Peace Forum will be an opportunity to present the Paris Dialogue road map, which sets out:
- the priority areas to work on: sustainable finance, artificial intelligence–climate–development, sports and culture, social agenda;
- concrete examples of contributions that will be made by the participating institutions;
- the governance of the Paris Dialogue, which focuses on the principles of openness and the sharing of good practices and actions for greater impact.
