The Agence Française de Développement (AFD) has chosen to make digital commons a driving force of its Digital Transition strategy (2021-2025). Digital commons allow citizens to contribute directly to the creation and management of the digital resources they need. Already today, digital commons are present in the daily lives of thousands of Africans, from collaborative mapping (OSM) to open-source software for public health services or community networks to access the Internet.
To determine how to better support these digital commons, AFD has recently launched a mapping of digital commons in Sub-Saharan Africa. The study conducted allowed to identify a great variety of communities and to better understand their functioning. Thank you for all your contributions!
We would like to invite you to join us for a webinar on Wednesday 25th of May, where the results of this mapping will be presented and discussed.
