Solidarity in the Eye of a Catastrophe
In the aftermath of Beirut's twin explosions which killed more than 150 people and injured thousands, Fondation de France has launched a campaign to collect donations to help victims and their families.
Donated funds will go to those working on the ground to provide physical, psychological and psychosocial support. Assistance will also extend to local economic recovery and housing. Fondation de France will be monitoring people's needs, with particular attention to the most vulnerable.
For the first time, AFD is joining hands with Fondation de France by matching the amounts donated.
Each donation to Fondation de France for Solidarity with Lebanon will be doubled by AFD.* The objective: multiply the impact of donors' generosity with funding and action on the ground.
Fondation de France and AFD partnered in 2019 to provide a stronger response in various countries following natural disasters. This partnership is based on two complementary approaches to meet people’s needs: provide immediate support for initiatives on the ground, and build their capacities to take action over the long term.
Fondation de France and AFD will monitor the financial management and implementation of the funded projects. Following this operation, an evaluation and assessment of the use of the funds collected will be published on the website: www.fondationdefrance.org.
*A maximum of €1 million will be doubled.
