In Laos, technology for heritage protection

To better identify and protect the historic sites of Champasak and Vat Phu, the EFEO is deploying a special technology: a LIDAR survey. Using a laser, this technology makes it possible to locate ancient structures, even hidden under the vegetation.
These surveys are part of a larger heritage protection project, CHAMPA, financed by AFD through a euro 6 million grant.
