Published on
The host country agreement signed with Kenya strengthens the framework that enables AFD Group to continue mobilizing its expertise, financing and partnerships in close alignment with the country’s development priorities.
On Monday, 19 January, in Paris, Kenya and Agence Française de Développement (AFD) Group signed a host country agreement marking an important step in strengthening their long-standing partnership.
Proparco, AFD Group’s private sector arm, has been active in Kenya since 1995. It has financed projects in health, energy, agriculture and small business support, totaling around €1 billion.
AFD has operated in Kenya since 1997, providing over €2 billion in financing for sectors such as energy, access to drinking water and sanitation, transport, health, and biodiversity conservation.
Expertise France, part of AFD Group, has been implementing activities in Kenya since 2022 at both national level (digital technology, green finance) and regional level (biodiversity, sport, maritime security, health and social protection). Until now, it did not benefit from a host country agreement with Kenya.
The signing ceremony took place at the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs in Paris, in the presence of H.E. Musalia Mudavadi, Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary, Éléonore Caroit, French State Secretary for Francophonie and International Partnerships, and Tristan-Aurel Mouline, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of AFD, representing AFD Group. The event highlighted the strong political and institutional commitment behind this cooperation.
