AFD and TKYB sign a EUR 200 Million Facility to Support Türkiye’s Green and Inclusive Transformation

AFD has signed a EUR 200 million loan agreement with the Development and Investment Bank of Türkiye (TKYB) to support renewable energy investments, strengthen the manufacturing sector’s capacity, and promote practices that advance inclusiveness.

TKYB continues to direct the resources it mobilizes through its strong partnerships with international financial institutions toward Türkiye's priority investment areas, while its latest financing agreement supports both the green transition and inclusive development through a single financing facility. The EUR 200 million, 10-year loan agreement signed with AFD aims to scale up renewable energy investments, support the sustainable growth of the manufacturing sector, and encourage investments and practices that strengthen women’s participation in the workforce.

Under the agreement, technical assistance to be provided by AFD will also contribute to enhancing the technical capacity of TKYB and TKYB clients benefiting from the facility, in line with the project’s objectives.

Commenting on the agreement, TKYB CEO İbrahim Öztop said: “This agreement signed with the French Development Agency represents more than the provision of long-term financing; it is also a strong reflection of our Bank’s commitment to transforming its sustainable and inclusive development vision into concrete investments. We are pleased to see our cooperation with AFD further deepen through each new project. With this EUR 200 million facility, we will support investments that contribute to Türkiye’s green transformation while also helping to expand inclusiveness-oriented practices across the real sector.”

Highlighting the significance of the agreement for Türkiye’s green transition and inclusive development ahead of COP31, AFD Country Director for Türkiye Xavier Muron said: “Signed ahead of COP31, this agreement is a tangible demonstration of our shared commitment to supporting sustainable investments, accelerating the green transition, and promoting women’s economic empowerment.”

Consul General of France in Istanbul Nadia Fanton also noted that the agreement is aligned with France’s global approach to green finance and gender equality, stating: “France pursues a dual global vision that aims to accelerate green finance worldwide while positioning gender equality as one of the key driving forces of this transformation.”
