Marie-Pierre BOURZAI

Since August 2021, Marie-Pierre Bourzai has served as Director of the Latin America department at the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) headquarters in Paris. Trained as an urban planner, she began her career in 2001 in international relations at Paris City Hall, before joining AFD in 2007.
Overview
From 2007 to 2012, she held the position of Urban Development Project Manager, overseeing financing projects for local authorities. She later became Country Manager for Brazil-Southern Cone and Suriname, also overseeing AFD's relations with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the World Bank for the Latin America and Caribbean region. From 2015 to 2017, she was in charge of economic diplomacy and territorial relations within the Strategy, Partnerships, and Communication Department. From 2017 to 2021, she headed the Territory and Business Division, managing relations with French companies, foreign trade stakeholders, local authorities, and French public institutions. During this period, she was also liaison officer for the strategic alliance with the Caisse des Dépôts Group.
From 2017 to 2020, she completed mid-career diplomatic training at the Diplomatic and Consular Institute at the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (Simone Veil class).
