In 2022, AFD, AFD went on with its support to human rights through its environmental and social complaints mechanism. The Mechanism independently handles grievances filed by final beneficiaries of the projects it funds. Highlights of year 2022 included a lower number of complaints received (9 in 2022 versus 21 in 2021), a review of the rules of the Mechanism with a view to strengthen its efficiency and finally, improvement to its accessibility.
This activity report first presents an overview of the complaints received since the creation of the Mechanism in 2017, and then focuses more particularly on the complaints handled in 2022 in a more didactic way. Finally, it takes stock of its activity to draw lessons and perspectives, notably through a capitalization exercise covering its first five years of existence.
