Evaluation Summary - North Gaza Emergency Sewage Treatment Plant (NGEST) Gaza Strip, Palestine

In Palestinian territories, for water and sanitation sector,  NGEST project was evaluated in march 2020. NGEST project aimed to provide a long-term solution to the treatment of wastewater for the Northern Governorate in Gaza and mitigate health and environmental threats to communities surrounding the effluent lake at Beit Lahia.

According to the evaluation, NGEST completion is a remarkable achievement in the difficult context of Gaza and shows good results. If relevance and effectiveness of the project are good enough, there is room for improvement regarding efficiency and impact, which are in largely linked to the situation of sludge disposal. Sustainability is still a major issue.
