Sport has the power to bring people together around common values and contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially for health, education and gender equality. AFD adopted its “Sport and Development” strategy in February 2019. Indeed, sport contributes to AFD’s 100% social link commitment. Through its appeal to youth and its ability to encourage intergenerational dialogue, sport offers an innovative and cross-cutting instrument to promote social cohesion and inclusion in development projects.
