The violence caused by ongoing fighting across the Central African Republic affects women disproportionately. They have suffered widespread sexual violence and displacement. A coalition of lawyers, caregivers and social workers are working hard to help. Financed by AFD, a new center, “Nengo” – meaning “dignity” – has been set up in the capital Bangui to provide holistic care for victims of sexual violence. We meet the men and women who fight on a daily basis to help survivors restore their dignity.
