Turkey
Along with Turkey’s growing population comes a greater demand for health services. With EU financing and implemented by AFD, Turkey’s Health Ministry has overseen the construction of a new hospital in Hatay, southern Turkey, near the Syrian border. On World Health Day on April 7, we take a closer look at a much-needed hospital with brand new facilities and modern equipment.

With construction now complete, the hospital will begin providing services to a population of about 250,000 in Dörtyol and neighboring towns. The opening of the new hospital will ease existing pressure on the province's health infrastructure and services by replacing the existing hospital, whose technical operations and capacity are no longer suited to the needs of a growing population.

The new hospital is equipped with cutting-edge technologies such as seismic isolators, crucial in provinces like Hatay, which are at high risk of earthquakes.
