l’Académie Al-Jazari et les acteurs du secteur de l’eau et de l’assainissement
AFD supports the partnership between the Al-Jazari Academy and the French Agro Paris Tech University aimed at enhancing the training program and introducing new modules to meet the capacity-building needs of the sector's players (WASAs, public and private companies, provincial department in charge of the sector, etc.).
Context
Faced with the challenges of preserving the resource and the quality of water and sanitation services, especially in Pakistan's major cities, the Government of Punjab, with the support of Japanese Cooperation, has set up the Al-Jazari Academy – a training centre devoted to the water and sanitation professions.
The Al-Jazari Academy seeks to strengthen its training program and introduce new modules to meet the capacity-building needs of the sector's players (WASAs, public and private enterprises, provincial department in charge of the sector, etc.).
Description
This project aims at establishing a partnership between AgroParisTech and the Al-Jazari Academy for the training of trainers or for setting up and/or strengthening training modules in order to meet the needs of the sector's actors. AgroParisTech is a public sector scientific, cultural and professional institution under the aegis of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries. AgroParisTech will act as an assembler and mobilize the necessary skills among French actors in the water and sanitation sector (water agencies, private operators, etc.). In addition to the skills available within the institution, AgroParisTech can also call on the expertise of other French actors to ensure the transfer of skills.
Impacts
The project's main impact will be to build the capacities of the water and sanitation sector's actors, be they from the public sector (WASAs, local communities) or the private sector (operators, suppliers), in line with the best international standards.
