Tunisia is undergoing rapid urbanization, which is creating challenges for its population. The growth of informal settlements raises the issue of access to basic services and amenities. In order to address this issue, the Tunisian government has initiated since 2012 the first and second generation Programme for the Regeneration and Integration of Residential Areas (PRIQH). With technical and financial support from the French Development Agency (AFD), the European Union and the European Investment Bank (EIB), this program aims to strengthen and support Tunisian public action. To this end, AFD is deploying, thanks to European Union funds, technical assistance to support this program in developing its operational practices and investing more in the population and municipalities.
